I am unsure if this occurred because of my systems preferences or whether I actually shut the computer lid enough to force it to sleep. For example, I am backing up to a 1TB External Hard Drive, and have been doing so for a year now.

However, you will not be able to continue backing up to the same drive. Why would it need 938GBs of space to backup if the disk has "only" 806 GBs in use??? I tried several things to get Time Machine working again including rebooting, reconnecting to the Time Capsule, and simply restarting the backup process. then when the drive is unmounted it runs the script again in reverse to bring me back to my internal drive backup settings.
