If you're just talking about having 300GB used internally, it should only back up what you have not backed up previously to the same TM file. Now deleted, everything seems fine.Thanks again. The back up was now successful. Thanks for pointing out the sys log - i use it all the time, but didn't think to check for a useful error message there. Type ls -ls Backup.
Not very old, either- same type and age as #3, which has been fine. http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/time-machine-fail-error-41-and-11.856702/ This will return all the entries for Time Machine. A professional BackUp solution should backup everthing and and the end bring me a list of the file that are defektive. I restarted once more and then tried to use TM.

When dragging and dropping manually all my files onto the backup volume, it says that there was a file that could not be read or modified - but doesn't give a Follow @bytebot on Twitter. i am having this error and can't drag the file to the trash because I do not have sufficient priveleges??
It turns out that Time Machine will clean up any mis-named files in this directory later.
I didn't even have to delete the progress file. Then I usually kick of a time Machine back up manually, though kicking of the backup manually is not necessary. Bill Eccles @EldRick- The one thing that SuperDuper does not do (that I know of, anyway, even as an owner and user of it) that Time Machine does with any drive, almost full" or "This backup is too large . . ." Forgot to mention that I also disabled some of the applications in the growl list. For network-mounted disks, where you've got an additional level of sparsebundle in the way, things are a bit more complicated. Hit enter and that should take you into the folder where your .inProgress file is located. Despite it being included, with the enabled services in 10.6, it is not designed to run with those features.
