Time Machine Stuck Backing Up
My plea(s) to Apple - unanswered. The drive began to fail, and I started using a new drive for subsequent TM backups. I do get a problem though: After I used the command
tail -f /var/log/fsck_hfs.log
I get this:
QUICKCHECK ONLY; FILESYSTEM CLEAN

I can never find the reason - faulty memory perhaps - but always discover that by hiding the toolbar of the folder, the issue goes away, and newly opened contained folders Time Machine Backup Frozen After rebooting the Mac Time Machine can then startup normally and perform its operations.
I got the fail repeatedly the last months always restarting the back-up and now tried your approach. Time Machine Error 110 Occasionally I skip to the next step before the hard restart. Is the MFC 3220c or any other Brother for that matter, all pieces of S___T!? You might get a job offer to help the Apple team in their fruit department.

I know the printer is about 24 months.This printer has been marginal at best and now this printer head issue just tells me to go back to HP's and forget the http://openoffice995.com/time-machine/time-machine-error-68.php Brother did tell me they would fix the 1800C free of charge but the nearest authorized repair shop is 60 miles away. I just recieved my replacemnet part that Brother has sent to me for free after several phone calls, but they recommend that I bring to a service center (at my cost) They are going to create a work order and fax to local printer repair company. Now I'm fighting a losing battle with my wife's MacBook and our Time Capsule.
I would recommend bookmarking this server location in the Finder: Go > Connect to Server…, then enter afp://@.local/.TMBACKUP and click the "+" button to add to your Favorite Servers. I run different testing programm and after a couple of runs non of them brings any errors, but TM still complain. From there, copy the Where path for your file, right up to the /.inProgress.Open a terminal window and enter:cd (followed by a space)Then press Command-V to paste the path from the Time Machine Freezes I've had problems where my attempt to use time machine failed in a similar fashion (got about half way and then stopped).
Call them and if they say your printer is out of warranty agree with them. The far more likely culprit was one of your Growl based applications. got Machine Error 41, called Brother, they sent out refurbished unit. I always get the error message when I wake up the machine from sleep. Thanks for the good suggestions though. Brad, just sent you an email to inquire about repair.
For some reason the drive was read-only for a short while. Is there a way to determine which backed up files are recoverable and which are irrecoverable? The NAS is likely a hardware product from the likes of Netgear, Synology, Buffalo or QNap - or for those of us with a home-grown backup server running FreeNAS. At least that's what worked for me!
