Time Machine An Unexpected Error Occurred Error Code 43
May 14, 2012 I've been without use of Time Machine for sometime (months) now. I've been getting the following error:My backup drive (Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex - 320GB) was a attached to It worked yesterday, but now I can't open the doc. Hey, just wanted to say thanks for this post and also the early-on comment about using Console to check the log quickly.Got the error, checked the backupd log messages, found out but i cant backup yet.. My error was the same as yours but system.log indicated that it had trouble deleting a pair of backups from earlier today. I just want my stuff to be backed up, why is this so complicated? Jun 3, 2014 I've been using an external HD as my disc image for Time Machine. Thanks Apple. Tech Tools reported 2 files on the Mac HD drive that are either corrupt or contain invalid data.
Is this is a known-issue or anything already being addressed by Apple? I should have been suspicious when it was difficult to eject. Thanks! Thank you so much for the fix.

Both the Time Machine disk, and the Boot Camp disk are excluded from the backup along with a "Crap" folder for temporary large files.Time Machine says it needs 938GBs to backup Perfect! Once you open a terminal window you will likely be placed into your home folder - something like: (mac name):~ hannah$ will be your prompt. The drive that is showing lots of fixed permissions is my OS drive. The error occurs usually part, mid or towards the end of transferring a folder of images.
