Time Capsule Error 19
I just started using TIme Machine at home and ran into the same error during the very first backup attempt. Any other ideas? I recently upgraded to ILife '11 and have about 230,000 photos that I had to manually move into IPhotos, and I think this caused Time Machine to get a little crazy.It Next hour check if anything is happening. http://openoffice995.com/time-machine/time-capsule-error-1.php

Full Reset Of Time Machine
I did a lot of research to see if I could move all my backups from the Firewire drive to Time Capsule and determine it wasn't worth the time. What's causing my automatic backups to fail? All are Mac Extended (journaled) format. Fix - Put "No successful backups reported" in the current log in red if no problems found but also no backups done in the current log.

Time Machine Backup Fails Repeatedly
I decided to just start fresh with the Time Capsule.Yes you can backup to portable/external drives. Section A. Full Reset Of Time Machine Turns out that Time Machine was looking for whichever drive hadn't been backed up to most recently, but because I rotate the 2 drives, it wasn't there. Time Machine Backup Keeps Failing The error message scrolls from above, covers the entire screen in a dark grayish color and says I must hold down the power button in order to restart my computer.

There's no need to rotate the drives yourself, unless you want to keep one of them off-site (which is a good thing to do.) TM does that automatically. Reply Francisco Castellanos 12/3/10 12:38 PM That "sudo grep backupd /var/log/system.log" worked out for me. Again, thanks for offering your process. It will take a bit to finish. (Without the -noverify and -noautofsk options, it can take hours! You should see a .sparsebundle file with a name based on your machine's name and hex MAC address.
Remember, I was successful without performing this step.Initiate a backup using the Time Machine drop-down in the menu bar or wait until the next scheduled backup run.A final but important step, I have already lost one set of backups, thinking I needed to reformat the drive.
