Garfield intersperses lots of information about stamp collecting and collecting in general and introduces us to a lot of famous (and other) philatelists in the course of the narrative. His youthful enthusiasm for stamp collecting, as well as the rediscovery of that passion in his mid-40s, when he has the income to buy the stamps he always dreamed about owning I loved Garfield's book on fonts, Just My Type, a fantastic brilliantly composed book, very funny and full of life. But I think this book will really be enjoyed by those who participate in collecting, rather than people like me.

I found it intriguing and wondered if I was perhaps missing out on something by not partaking. This unfortunately is the pattern of the whole book.
